Seth W. Glickman, M.D., M.B.A. is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Glickman received a B.A. in biological sciences from DePauw University, attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and completed residency training in emergency medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals. He obtained an M.B.A. in health care management at the Duke University Fuqua School of Business and completed a two-year fellowship in health policy and outcomes research at the Duke Clinical Research Institute.
Dr. Glickman’s research focus is determinants of health care quality, including the role of organizational structure and management, physician behaviors, and financial incentives. He also studies ethical issues related to participation of human subjects in clinical research and health implications of regionalization of care for patients with acute, time-sensitive conditions such as acute myocardial infarction, trauma, and stroke.
Dr. Glickman’s Physician Faculty Scholars Program project was titled “Inequalities in Emergency Medical Systems (EMS) and Implications for Regionalized Systems of Health Care Delivery in Minority Populations and Rural Areas.” His goal is to characterize the continuum of health care for myocardial infarction from onset of chest pain to entry into large regionalization programs, particularly among under-served areas and patients.
